In 2005, a young patient with a diagnosis of cervical cancer was determined to preserve her pregnancy. Inspired by this patient, a medical team from the University Hospitals Leuven explored the possibilities of treating cervical cancer during pregnancy. She successfully received chemotherapy during pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
This marked the beginning of the taskforce ‘Cancer in Pregnancy’, which operates under the umbrella of the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). In 2014, the taskforce evolved into the ‘International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy’ (INCIP). INCIP is dedicated to advancing research on cancer in pregnancy, aiming to increase knowledge among health care workers and the public.
Our mission is to continue advancing cancer treatment techniques, reducing post-treatment effects, and preserving fertility.
We keep on expanding our community of healthcare providers and facilitate the flow of knowledge and advice between hospitals around the globe. Doing so, we aim to help more families.
